PASSPORT SEVA KENDRA

Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) is a service delivery network established by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, to facilitate the issuance of passports to Indian citizens. PSKs are passport offices or centers located across various cities in India where individuals can submit their passport applications, undergo document verification, and complete the necessary formalities.

1. Services Provided: PSKs offer a range of passport-related services, including new passport applications, passport renewals, reissue of passports, and other associated services such as change of address, name change, and adding or removing spouse’s name. PSKs also handle the processing and issuance of Police Clearance Certificates (PCC) and Tatkal passports (for urgent travel).
2. Application Process: To apply for a passport through a PSK, applicants need to register online on the Passport Seva website (www.passportindia.gov.in). After completing the online application, an appointment has to be scheduled at a nearby PSK. During the appointment, applicants are required to visit the PSK in person, submit their application form, provide the necessary documents, and undergo a biometric data capture (photograph and fingerprinting).
3. Document Verification: At the PSK, the submitted application and supporting documents are verified by passport officials to ensure accuracy and completeness. This includes verifying the applicant’s identity, address, date of birth, and other relevant information. In case of any discrepancies or missing documents, applicants may be asked to provide additional documents or clarification.
4. Payment of Fees: Passport application fees are paid online during the application process or at the PSK using the available payment options. The fee varies depending on the type of passport service and the applicant’s age. Additional fees may apply for optional services such as expedited processing (Tatkal) or obtaining extra pages in the passport.
5. Status Tracking: Applicants can track the progress of their passport application online through the Passport Seva website or by using the mobile application. The tracking system provides real-time updates on the status of the application, including the stages of processing and estimated time for completion.
6. Appointment and Assistance: PSKs operate on an appointment-based system to ensure efficient service delivery. Applicants need to schedule an appointment through the Passport Seva website before visiting the PSK. Additionally, the PSKs have help desks and staff available to assist applicants and provide guidance during the application process.
